February 13th, 2001.....D Day is under 72 hours away

A friend of mine recently said nothing good ever happens after 2am, and given its nearly 2am on February 13th as I type this, I'm thinking he's right. In less then 72 hours Munchkin #1 will be married and I'll have a Munchkin-In-Law. Now know I am truly happy for him given the last 2 years haven't been the easiest on him or Munchkin #2 but I have a feeling that my brain knows D Day is around the corner and going into revolt on me. I'm hoping here within a couple hours my body will finally revolt and force my brain to sleep. However that is now an easier prospect to do in my bedroom as I have received a new 24 inch screen tv, something I wanted since my old tv started acting wacky and would turn itself off when you first turned it on. This would continue for up to 15 minutes and was a pain. Then one day it just wouldnt stay on for anything. My best friend of forever (aka BFF #1) gave me a TV her son had owned but it was a 9 inch screen and was a bit like watching tv on my car's dashboard. So if I crash and burn I can take up the whole bed (or as much as I can given that Puppy #2--aka Pin--loves to snuggle UNDER the covers.)

Alot has actually happen in the last few days. Finally the federal government and state government were actually speedy this year and I have received both my refunds, and they came the same week as Hubs got paid. So paid the bills I had planned on, have a couple under $300 bill to pay off, got the tv, have a new dryer in the budget and have my dental work at the end of this month. Its nice to see the bank account fatter then usual, and I know once I pay off the two pesky bills and do what my financial friends call a "snowball" to the others that sooner rather then later I'll be debt free. Well except for my home, utilites and probably student loans. But no credit card debt, no loan debt, no medical or dental debt (knock on wood) and even a savings.

The dental work starts on Monday when they take an impression of my teeth. When I told this to Munchkin #1 he asked if they were whittling them out of wood. The smart.....yeah you know the word that would go there. I rolled my eyes and went "no you know what I mean" but it takes 2 or 3 appointments to get the impression, get it back from the lab, make sure the bite is right then on March 4th will do the actual part I hate (I hope the dentist is beyond generous with pain meds and I'm making sure he is). Hubs is off that weekend so I have a feeling Munchkin #1 and Munchkin In Law will escape to her mom's home to get away from me and my grumpiness. I need to start stocking up on fruit bars and smoothie mixes and such. My folks told me on not being able to really chew for a week. But the goal here is to make it easier for me to chew my food period, and then I shouldnt have the stomach problems I have had the last few years from lack of not enough molars in my head.

Valentine's Day is technically tomorrow. Hubs got me a 3 foot teddy bear and a pillow I can snuggle with in bed (for when I dont feel good but need a "snuggle pillow" and he's not around). He also got me a peanut butter heart. I want to get him a simple gold wedding band, and probably should be looking even right now at amazon.com or such but it actually just came to mind. The day after that is the wedding and I hope the groom doesn't catch my butterflies or we will have problems on our hands.

Hubs is getting frustrated with work, or more like the people who work there who dont want to do the acutal work. They had two people call in sick Friday and Saturday. One is a guy who Hubs has issues with (when you're a supervisor it happens but this guy seems to think he doesn't have to listen). The other guy is the other "lead" (aka supervisor) that works with Hubs during the week. Apparently he traded Valentines Day with another lead and had said he was going to Las Vegas. Ok great. BUT he called in sick on Friday saying his son was in the hospital. That might have flown if his ex hadnt shown up AT work and asked where he was....and the "son in the hospital" was with her. Hubs feels, and I have to agree, that the guy just wanted a 4 day weekend but given work is busy on Friday and Monday couldnt get it off, so he fibbed. Well I hope he hits the big one in Vegas because he may be lucky to still have a job.

Hubs most the time likes his job, but every other weekend when its just him in charge on his side he gets cranky at the folks at work. Plus he caught a cold (which he better not give me until AFTER Tuesday) and that has made him super cranky. He says about once a month that he's going to look for another job, but he knows this job pays actually rather well, plus he gets retirement and next year gets another week of vacation.....well you get the picture. They just need to hire people who, you know, actually want to work.

I think I've decompressed my brain or the movie I'm sort of watching is lulling to sleep as my eyes are starting to burn and get heavy. That happens with movies I love, especially ones I've seen several times. I watch them and they lull me to sleep when I can't sleep. Hubs thinks its because my brain doesn't have to think nearly as hard to keep up with them, which is probably true. I'm watching the Last Emporer right now and....I love the movie. But I also know if I fell asleep this very moment where I am in the movie.

Night y'all

  1. Rosepark Star,

I'm a reporter at Deseret News. I'm doing a story on free breakfast in school (the advantages of the free meal system and how more people should take advantage). I came across a thread in which you mention that your child gets free lunch (http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149189). That was about a year ago, but I wondered if you still are participating in that program and if so, if you would be willing to speak with me for about 2 minutes about the benefits of the program.

I'm on deadline for 4 p.m. Thank you,
